Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a exciting storyline featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 are included.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of characters who will separate from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the outset that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might seem mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment show why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
First, the party knows exactly where to go next after a intense initial meeting with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited the enemy for his own means, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the powerful objects to auction.
Casimir then paid off his liabilities and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each member has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants vengeance.
- Kattigan knows Timmony and warns that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- However, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could enable the team enter areas they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The grateful character pledged a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that control the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- Tyranny and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The target is marked for death by House Halovar.
This leaves them no alternative but to head to the northern region in search of Casimir.
Future Episodes
Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Questers and Schemers tables.
Audiences can look forward to finding out which players will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
